Handstitched hem

In a commercial environment hems are usually whizzed through sewing machines so when a garment dictates a hand stitched hem I regard it as a luxurious treat! After cutting and stitching together 54 pieces of fabric; hand sewing the hem on this tweed coat means the end is in sight! This particular combination of fabric and hem shape is a joy to stitch. The needle slips through the fabric easily and as a largish stitch ensures swift progress.
