Angela Pitcher Dowdell is the A behind Pitch the Cloth.

Hello! I’m a UK based designer, maker and teacher. I have spent the majority of my working life designing and cutting clothing patterns and make many other things alongside clothing. It makes me happy to be figuring out how to cut and join things together working in fabric, leather, paper and wood. Good design and quality making are important to me and I like things to last. I now share my experience and skills by teaching dress making classes (usually coat making). As a rule of thumb I make things better than I photograph them!

Previously

I started Blue Bridalwear in the bedroom of my rented flat in 1991. The business grew to employ a team of talented garment constructors supplying bridal boutiques nationally, internationally and direct to brides from the flagship store in Cardiff. Huge changes in the bridal industry and the need to renew the lease on business premises in 2016 led to the decision to close the business in a calm and orderly manner. Blue Bridalwear continued to supply gowns to wholesale customers until 2019.
